
Kids Tri Clinic
Overview
Boulder Triathlon Club is excited to announce we’re teaming up with the Life Time Tri to host the return of the Junior Triathlon Clinic during the 25th anniversary Boulder Peak Triathlon presented by Voler. The clinic, a long-standing favorite in the Boulder community, is designed to introduce young athletes 5+ to the sport of triathlon and help them improve triathlon specific skills in a safe and fun environment. The clinic is limited to 80 participants and an ideal opportunity for parents racing the Boulder Peak Triathlon to involve their entire family during race weekend. The clinic will be fully supported by Boulder Tri Club volunteers.
Where & When
We will be hosting the clinic at the Boulder Reservoir on JULY 9th the day prior to the Boulder Peak Triathlon – with the kind and generous support of Life Time Tri. The clinic will be fully USAT sanctioned and insured with safety as the first priority.

**Parents receive discount $10 to the Boulder PEAK triathlon when registering kids for this event!
Age groups
Kids of 5 and upwards will be welcome – the kids will be split into age specific groups and rotate through modules – each group can then be targeted specifically for that age range with the younger kids getting the first introductions.
The clinic will be limited to 80 kids and hosted by qualified USAT coaches with 1-2 coaches for each module and additional volunteers available.

Outline Agenda
8.30 – Registration and group selections
9.00 – 9.15 – Overview of day
9.45 – 11.45 – 4 modules 30 minutes each
11.45 – 12.00 – Professional Athlete Meeting
Kids and Beginners
Module 1 – Swim focused (lifeguards and additional volunteers on hand) - Focus on entry & exit from open water - Focus on sighting during open water swim - Swim games to practice skills
Note- will be very age appropriate catered to age and ability level – safety is first here
Module 2 – Swim – Bike transition - How to correctly set up transition area - Practice of transitions
Module 3 – Bike Focus - Education of bike basics – Gears, Brakes, Safety - Bike handling and correct usage Note- will be very age appropriate catered to age and ability level – safety is first here
Module 4 – Bike to Run transition - Correct dismount – transition and exit. - Fun relays & mini races to practice - Education of running paces – understanding what speed to run for the race.
Parent / Guardian / Supporter – participation
All are welcome to stay and watch / participate – Children of ages 5-10 we would encourage at least one parent per family to stay and help to corral the kids in the right direction!We will also be hosting a parent focused session with advice and guidance on how to best support and help your kids during a triathlon. What to do, what to bring, how to get the best out of being a spectator and how to help your little one enjoy the day. We know that nothing beats enthusiasm and cheering for our little ones and hope we can guide your energy in the best way.

Gear Athletes Need to Bring (Minimum Requirements)

• Bike
• Helmet
• Bike shoes
• Towel for swim
• Towel for transition (optional)
• Running Shoes
• Swimsuit / swim shorts
• T-shirt or vest
• Goggles
• Swim cap (optional for pool swimming)
• Snacks
• Water & Drinks
• Sun Screen
• Bike locks
• Socks
• Warm clothes for after swim and between modules.



*entrance fee includes entrance to Rez for 1 Child and 1 Adult - additional spectators may be required to pay additional fee upon entry.
